READ FIRST PLAESE! Children and teens with cancer are often misunderstood. Misunderstood about their appearance, the way they may act, and the way their treatment works. They are often made fun of for having no hair, or nasty rumors are spread about their constant absence in school. When I found this poem, I knew it as the perfect oportunity to address this. This video was made with the pictures of kids with cancer just being kids. I made however, another video using the same poem with kids and the harsh during times of childhood cancer. I hope this helps people understand the many children and teens battling cancer. www.youtube.com Poem By: Tony Williams – Broken Hill NSW www.gvtc.com NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED
My daughter has acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She’s already beat it once and it’s returned. She is in incomparable amounts of pain right now. Her skin is raw from radiation and she’s had awful side effects from chemotherapy. 3 days ago we were told that she had stopped responding to treatment as well as she should, she might not make it. This morning, we were called by the hospital and asked to come to the hospital, straight away. We did so and were met by a group of doctors who told us that they had a clinical trial that could help her more responsive to treatment. I looked at my little girl, she’s been battling this since she was 5, for 3 years now and she lay there with her skin bright red, her face swollen and i’m not sure i can let them poison her anymore. Have any other parents been in this situation, i really am at loss for what to do now. She’s a brave kid, i want whats best for her and right now, i’m really not sure what that is.

the child was dx with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) 5 months ago and has been receiving treatment. when she was diagnosed, her dx was “hepatosplenomegaly, leukocytosis with blasts, anemia and thrombocytopenia”
at the moment, the doctor say she is in “complete remission” stage. her last lumbar puncture show “No morphologic evidence of residual pre-B cells ALL”
but i don’t understand why is her lab value still off.
here are her abnormal lab value..
WBC 5.5-15.5 k/ul2.3 (L) <= but when she was first diagnosed it was 49 (H)
Globulin2.4-4.4 gm/dl1.9 (L) <= what does this do/mean?
Neutrophil Abs1.8-7.5 k/ul0.8 (L)
Lymph Abs1.5-10.5 k/ul0.9 (L)
ALT 10-49 u/l81 (H)
AST 0-49 u/l57 (H)
Alk Phos 0-280 u/l346 (H) <= why is this so high?
Triglyceride 0-149 mg/dl501 (A)
I understand leukemia can effect the spleen and the liver.. but can someone explain it with more detail? how exactly does it effect the liver? is it because her liver is not completely recovered yet? or is it d/t the chemo..?
and what exactly does “complete remission” mean…
sorry for the many question.. =( i did try to research online (i used labtestsonline.com).. but still confused. thanks for the help..!
